BattleTech 3000AdvantagesCharacters have Advantage points according to the priority assigned:
A few of the advantages are detailed below. TitleEach character in this campaign must purchase the Title advantage. A character's title determines the maximum size of their holdings. Each character pays for the Title held when the House was first created.
Land Grant - 1 ptThis gives the character control of a town and the surrounding countryside of Simpson Desert. The town will be chosen by the GM based on the character's Title. This is only available to the first character of a new House. Subsequent characters must pay the point even if they lose the land. Natural AptitudeThis lets the player roll 3 dice for skill checks and take the highest 2. Cost is 2 advantage points except for a few skills such as Gunnery and Small Arms (though not Piloting) which cost 3 points. Extra EdgeEach character starts with 1 point of Edge, which allows them to re-roll a skill roll on a failure. Spent Edge is returned at the end of each session. Additional points of Edge are 1 advantage point each. Extra Money - 3 ptsCharacters start with 500 H-Bills. For 3 Advantage points, characters can start with 500,000 C-bills. They cannot spend it before play. This is only available to the first character of a new House, and subsequent characters must spend the 3 points. Extra EquipmentCharacters may spend advantage points for extra starting equipment:
The Advantage must be purchased by all subsequent characters, even if the item is lost. Married - 1 ptThe character begins play with a spouse from a Dispossessed but still Noble House. The character has no other dependents, may be given actions like any other member of your House and returns to his/her own House if your character dies. The GM may create the character; if you want to create him/her, assign Priorities 2 and 3 to Attributes or Skills. The character may have no Advantages or starting BattleMech. Child - 1 pt eachThe character has a child from a current or previous marriage. The child must be at least 16 years younger than the character and no older than 14. The GM determines the child's statistics until he/she comes of age, at which point they are created normally. DisadvantagesAll disadvantages must be approved by the GM. They give you extra points with which to purchase advantages. Homosexual - 1 ptHomosexual characters have a -3 penalty for birth rolls (for either parent). Characters must have at least 2 points in Title and Land Grant to take this disadvantage and must have at least 5 Family Honor (half of which is lost if their secret is revealed). Disabled - 1 ptFor some reason, the character is unable to pilot a BattleMech, vehicle or aircraft/spacecraft. This doesn't affect their other statistics, but they can never learn or use the related skills. They may still man Gun Emplacements or lead Ground Forces. Heir - 1 ptThis is not a new disadvantage, but part of the Title Advantage. The character is not head of their House; an NPC head of House will be created by the GM, who will give orders, may take away the BattleMech and/or put the PC on an allowance. When creating additional characters, this disadvantage can only be taken as long as the head of House is an NPC. A starting character may not be the Heir to a Knight.
