Shellshock Controls
by Grant Davis
L2: left spin
R2: right spin
L1: rotate gun turret left
R1: rotate gun turret right
Directional Buttons:
UP: go straight ahead
DOWN: go backward
LEFT: turn left
RIGHT: turn right
D: Targets the chain gun on the nearest target. Good for targeting helicopters. No effect on main gun.
O: chain gun’s target cut exchange
“Fire chain gun at target”
[Since this is not what the circle button actually does, I must have mistranslated. Will continue to investigate.]
O: Zooms in and out on the tank when map is displayed.
X: Fire selected weapon.
Square: Switch weapons.
Select: Switch to map display.
Start: Pause game, display option screen (in English!). Use this to turn off sound effects when the annoying warning tone starts (when your armor is low). To change the song being played, you must go to the boom box at the back of the hangar between missions.
L2 button (press twice): rotate turret left 90 degrees
R2 button (press twice): rotate turret right 90 degrees
L2+R2: Rotate tank 180 degrees.
After you press start, the game begins in the hangar. To the right is a door that leads to a ‘ready room’. The door in the middle leads to your mission. The lockers on the left allow you to save (rightmost locker) and load (leftmost locker) your game.
During the mission, you appear to have an unlimited amount of time and ammunition, so the important thing is not to get hit. Use the radar to find targets; you can use an overhead map view with the SELECT button, but even on minimum zoom the map won’t show enemies until they’re right on top of you. The number of targets remaining is shown in the lower left-hand corner.
After defeating all the enemies, you have to go to some kind of ‘exit zone’. On the first level, the exit is a bridge that leads to another bridge (if you just go over a single bridge, that’s the entrance zone). I haven’t found the exit zone on the second level.
It’s important to note that between battles your tank is not repaired automatically. After the battle, go to the garage door on the right of the main hangar screen. Talk to “Props”: he will sell you more armor, better armor, and all kinds of toys I have yet to figure out.
